Dear MS 447 Community,
We have officially entered the final stretch of the 2011-2012 school year! The energy and dedication that our community has put forth over the past several months has yielded fantastic results. You all—teachers, parents, and children--have worked very hard!
We have seen some outstanding accomplishments over the past several months: Our Annual Peace and Diversity Conference engaged students in activities focused on the richness of our community and world beyond us, and brought recognition from our Network leaders; our school was selected to participate in the Anti-Defamation League’s first annual Day of Difference, in which community and corporate volunteers painted murals around our building; The Legacy Program, a theater project geared towards exploring the heritage and communities of African American students, took up residency at MS 447, and will present their showcase on May 10-11; and the Woolly Pockets in our school yard are in full bloom, packed with bulbs and edibles, through the efforts of the Gardening Club.
We have many exciting events happening over the next couple of months, including and Arts Showcase, our GetSmart! Annual Silent Auction Fundraiser, 7th and 8th grade overnight trips, a spring dance, and more! Please stay tuned to our school website, ms447brooklyn.org, for up-to-date information and news, as well as ways you can be involved. We look forward to seeing you around, and thank you deeply for all the support you offer to your children and our school.
Sincerely,
Dawn Faraj-Valle
Principal
